Using the chart
Look up each letter, read across to the column for your cipher, and add. The calculator does the same arithmetic and shows the working, so the chart is mainly for checking, teaching, or working offline. Three things to keep in mind:
- Name the column. A value means nothing without its cipher. “74” is English Ordinal; the same word is 444 in Sumerian and 985 in the Agrippa table.
- Hebrew finals. In every method except Gadol, a final letter has the base letter’s value. In Gadol read the second number.
- Case in Bacon only. Every cipher ignores capitals except Francis Bacon, where the second number applies to capitals.
For a fuller treatment of each alphabet, the three detailed charts add letter names, transliterations, how the numerals were used to write numbers, and printable single-alphabet layouts: English, Hebrew, Greek. The cipher comparison explains how the English tables relate to one another and which to choose.
FAQ
Chart questions
How do I use a gematria chart?
Find each letter of your word in the left-hand column, read across to the cipher you are using, and add the values. For “love” in English Ordinal: L 12 + O 15 + V 22 + E 5 = 54. The chart gives the same numbers the calculator uses, so results can be checked by hand.
Which gematria chart should I use?
For Hebrew text, the standard values (Mispar Hechrachi). For Greek, isopsephy. For English there is no single answer: English Ordinal (A = 1) is the most common, Full Reduction is the numerology chart, and the Agrippa “Jewish” table is what Gematrix-style sites use. Use the one your source used — and if you are comparing with another site, check the methodology page for which table its label means.
Can I print this chart?
Yes. Use your browser’s print command or the Print button; the page is styled to print as clean tables without the site navigation. A ready-made gematria chart PDF of the same tables is also available to download, free, with no sign-up.
Are these charts the same as other sites’ charts?
The letter values match the conventions documented on our methodology page — Gematrix’s Jewish/English/Simple columns correspond to our Agrippa Latin, Sumerian and English Ordinal. Where other charts differ (final-letter values in Hebrew, K and V in reduction ciphers, W in the Agrippa table), the methodology page explains the alternatives.
